Vegan and Gluten Free Cinnamon Roll Dough

Begin by making the dough. Mix the maple syrup, melted butter, salt, and milk. Then, sprinkle the yeast over top and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes. Then, stir in flour and mix until a dough forms. Cover the dough with plastic wrap in the bowl and allow it to rise for 1 hour.

Once dough has risen (if using gluten free flour it may rise less), lay it onto a floured surface and roll it into a 1/2 inch rectangle. Spread the butter, then sugar, then cinnamon on the sheet of dough. Roll it into a log and cut into 7 or 8 pinwheels.

Place pinwheels in a baking dish and cover with a towel. Allow it to sit and rise for another 30 minutes. Keep in mind gluten free flour will rise less. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Remove the towel and bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes. The rolls will be golden and fluffy.

While the rolls are baking, use a hand mixer to make the vegan cream cheese icing. Spread over the warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy immediately!
