Easy Homemade Vegan Pizza Crust (with yeast)

This homemade vegan pizza dough is absolutely perfect! It's fluffy on the inside, golden and crisp on the outside. It makes the perfect base for any of your favorite vegan pizza toppings!

Easy Homemade Vegan Pizza Crust

  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 4 tablespoon melted vegan butter or olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 ½ cup regular or gluten free all purpose flour If gluten-free, I recommend King Arthur Measure for Measure gluten-free flour. Please don't substitute any other flour such as almond flour, baking flour, etc.

Easy Homemade Vegan Pizza Crust

  • Prepare the pizza crust by first microwaving the almond milk in a large mixing bowl for about 45 seconds until it’s lukewarm, not hot. Whisk in the melted vegan butter and salt. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top of the mixture and stir just a few times. Let it set for 10 minutes. If making gluten free pizza crust, add the baking powder and apple cider vinegar and mix.
  • After 10 minutes, mix in your flour until a thick dough forms. Use your hands to form the dough into a mound. Be careful not to over work the dough or it will become tough.
  • Leave the dough in the bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Allow the dough to rise for about 45 minutes. To help it rise faster, you can set the bowl on top of a 350ºF preheated oven.
  • Once the dough has risen and doubled in size, preheat the oven to 350ºF if you haven’t already. Then, roll the dough into a circle shape onto a floured surface until it’s about ⅓ inch (8 mm) thick. Sprinkle more flour on the dough if it’s too stick to roll. Place the crust on a baking sheet and bake it in the oven for 12 minutes.
  • Remove the crust from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 400ºF. Spread the your toppings of choice on the crust and return to the oven for 5-10 minutes.
