Instructions for Classic Breadsticks with Yeast (preferred for regular flour)
Mix the warmed oat or almond milk, melted vegan butter, salt, baking powder (if using), and apple cider vinegar (if using) together. Add the active dry yeast and mix a few times. Allow to sit for 10 minutes. Then, mix in the flour. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and allow the dough to rise for about 1 hour.
Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Slice into about 12 pieces and then roll either piece into a 3-4 inch bread stick. Place the sticks onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Sprinkle them with garlic powder. Cover the pan again with a kitchen towel and let the breadsticks rise for another 20 minutes. Bake for 15 minutes or until they have completely risen. Broil for 2 minutes at the end. Brush with melted butter before serving. Option to sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and freshly chopped parsley.
