Enjoy the flavors of a blueberry muffin in the form of a creamy smoothie. This Blueberry Protein Shake takes 5 minutes and you only need about 5 ingredients! Once you try it, you will want to make this simple and healthy recipe every day. It's a delicious meal to enjoy for breakfast, before or after a workout, and as a snack. Blueberry Protein Shake Ingredients
- Blueberries: Using frozen regular blueberries or wild blueberries will give this smoothie a thick, creamy, and cold texture without needing to add ice.
- Banana: One whole ripe banana is used in this blueberry muffin shake to add creaminess and natural sweetness. I do not recommend using a frozen banana in this recipe as it will make the texture too thick.
- Milk: To make this blueberry muffin protein smoothie vegan friendly, I recommend using plain and unsweetened almond milk or oat milk. If you are not dairy-free or vegan, feel free to use regular 1%, 2% or whole milk.
- Peanut Butter: Either creamy or crunchy peanut butter will work. The peanut butter makes this protein smoothie extra creamy, filling, and adds additional protein.
- Protein Powder: To make this blueberry protein shake plant-based, I recommend using vanilla flavored pea-protein powder. If you are not vegan or dairy-free, vanilla flavored whey protein will also work. If you don't have a vanilla flavored protein powder, you can use plain and just add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to your smothie before blending.
- Granola: The granola topping is optional in this recipe, but adds a nice crunchy texture and helps make the shake more filling. If you are vegan or gluten-free, be sure to pick up granola that is safe for you to eat!
What I Used
- Once Again Crunchy Peanut Butter - I love this brand of peanut butter because it is made with just one single ingredient ... peanuts! You can also use their creamy peanut butter in this blueberry protein shake.
- Malk Unsweetened Almond Milk - I love this brand of almond or oat milk because they use no gums, fillers, natural flavors, or preservatives. Their almond milk has just 3 ingredients : water, almonds, and salt.
- NUFYX Organic Vegan Protein Powder - I partner with this brand of vegan protein powder because it is USDA certified organic, is tested for heavy metals, uses clean ingredients, contains digestive enzymes, and tastes delicious! Use the link above and be sure to use my code PBJILLY to get 15% off.
- Wyman's Frozen Wild Blueberries - They are the best tasting frozen blueberries! I've used them in oats, smoothies, and baking. Their frozen blueberries can be found in the freezer section at almost any major grocery store.
- Nutribullet Blender - This is the compact high-speed blender that I use for all of my smoothie recipes. It also works great for blending sauces.

It almost tastes like a cross between a blueberry muffin and a milkshake. But, it's way healthier. We use a ripe banana for creaminess and sweetness and we use vanilla-flavored protein powder to give this protein shake a blueberry muffin flavor.
This blueberry protein shake has the perfect smoothie-like consistency. The combination of the frozen blueberries and fresh ripe banana creates a creamy, thick, and silky shake. We used nufyx protein powder which is very fine. No chalkiness here!
