I want to begin this post by saying that I take absolutely no credit for the incredible nursery my husband designed for our baby girl. Seriously, it is 100% his vision and all I did was help pick out the light fixtures and paint color! In this post, I will share a before image of the baby's room and summarize the steps he took on how to transform her room into the beautiful nursery it is now. I'll also link the exact products we used.
Before & After

Step 1: Demolition
We purchased an older home and we knew it was going to come with its fair share of demos and remodels. With our baby girl on the way, we started with the nursery! We pulled up the old green carpet that appeared to be at least 40 years old. We removed the curtains and ceiling fan. There was an old wooden folding door that we also pulled out. We got the popcorn ceiling removed and had the ceilings refinished. Basically, we stripped the room down to the bare bones ... and by "we" I mean ... my incredible husband!

Step 2: New Flooring, Lighting, and Walls
Lighting - We hung a new lighting fixture from the ceiling. We went with a beaded chandelier instead of a ceiling fan to give the nursery a softer look. Here is the link to the fixture we purchased from WayFair.

Board & Batten Walls - My husband is so handy! He purchased these panels of shiplap from Lowes and installed them. Then he cut and installed the trim and molding. I wish I could find the exact trim and molding he selected but it looks like they're gone! Here is an up close image so you can see the style we went with. Something I learned from him during this process is that you wait to paint until after you install the B&B paneling.

Flooring - The final step in this phase was flooring! We went with a light oak colored LVP flooring from Lowes. My husband cut and laid each piece. It was surprisingly simple because LVP comes in a click and lock form. The big key to this part was adding Quiet Walk padding underneath so the floors are quiet to walk on and feel soft on your feet.

Step 3: Paint, Curtains, and Closet
Paint - We wanted a soft pink/peachy color for our baby girl and the Pink Elephant Paint from Behr was perfect! We used this to paint the drywall above the board and batten paneling.
Curtains - Believe it or not, we got the curtain rod from Walmart. It is a brushed nickel finish. And the curtains are cream colored curtains that were hand-me-downs from my sister-in-law!
Closet - My husband installed a cute little closet system in the closet and also added a new bifold closet door. Here is a similar door for you to view.

Step 4: Time For Furniture!
The Crib - We went with this 4-in-1 crib from Delta! It is affordable and modern and was super easy to put together.

The Day Bed - We decided to put a day bed into her nursery so that we could use her room as a guest room whenever we needed to. We also thought it would be nice for family cuddles before bedtime. Here is the day bed we got! It was storage and pulls out into a full king!

The Dresser -
We decided to get the matching dresser to go with the Delta Essex crib! We put a changing table topper on top. Here is a link to the dresser. Another cute piece that was easy to put together and affordable!

The Glider(s)-
- Spend: The Nurture& Glider Plus has a larger set, it's super comfortable, it has adjustable lumbar support and an adjustable headrest + it is completely electric. It swivels and reclines and is totally luxurious!
- Save: We started with the Kiwi Glider from Babyletto and ended up upgrading to the Nurture& Glider Plus for the nursery and moving the Kiwi into our primary bedroom. Here is a link to the Kiwi - we LOVE it! It has electric recline, it swivels, and it's super comfortable. About half the cost of the Nurture&.

Final Thoughts
In all sincerity - today I am taking a moment to express my gratitude for the gifts God has poured out over me. The gift of a Godly husband who is my rock and my best friend. He gives himself to me every day and I am just so thankful. The gift of our daughter growing in my womb. Motherhood is something I always prayed for but wasn’t quite certain it would happen. The gift of incredible friends and family who loaded us up with EVERYTHING we could ever need from our registry to help prepare us for our baby. I’m in the home stretch of my first pregnancy and the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelmingly encouraging.
