Our baby girl will arrive in just a few short weeks! We have taken the birthing classes, we've read all the parenting books, and even done some breast feeding courses. We've prepared as much as two first-time parents could prepare! Something that helped us prepare was having a baby shower. We registered for gifts that our baby girl is going to need in her first year of life and we found it to be such a relief! Here is a list of some of the top ten items we registered for and a short description of why we find each item helpful.
1. Hatch Rest
Number one on the list! The Hatch Rest is by far the most highly acclaimed product among our friends and family. We've heard from other parents that this sound machine/noise maker/night-light is a game-changer for newborns. We registered for the duo that includes the Rest and the portable sound machine (for travel). It's under $80 on Amazon! Including a link for you here.
2. Mockingbird Stroller & Attachments
We did hours of research trying to determine what would be the best stroller for our needs. We wanted something affordable that could endure all-terrain walking (meaning it had to have big rubber wheels), could be used for infant-toddler years, would allow baby to face me or face away, and could be used to carry up to three children. 3. The Crib
We wanted something that was affordable (under $200) but could convert to a toddler bed and looked modern and clean! We love the Delta Children's Essex 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib! Here's a link to it on Amazon!
4. Glider - Spend vs. Splurge
We received the Glider Plus from Nurture&! It was a total splurge but so worth it! The glider is comfortable, the fabric is soft, it has buttons to control the recline and even lumbar support controls! Here is a link to Nurture& 's Glider Plus. We also got the ottoman! If you're looking for a less expensive option, we recommend the Kiwi by Babyletto! We thankfully received both (one for the nursery and one for the bedroom) and found them to be comparable!
5. The Day Bed
We host our family and friends a lot and we didn't want to completely lose the nursery as an option for a guest. Plus, we've heard from many friends and family members that it is nice to have a bed in the nursery for those long sleepless nights. We are limited on space, so we searched to find something that would meet all those needs and not take over baby girl's entire room! We found this awesome day bed on Amazon! It has storage and converts into a full king bed. When it's collapsed, you can use it for seating, changing the baby, reading books, etc. Here is the Amazon link for the day bed!
6. The JuJuBe Diaper Bag

7. The Diaper Genie
An oldie but a goodie! The diaper genie is going to be your best friend when disposing of those 10+ diapers a day that a newborn goes through! It individually wraps the diapers to contain the smell, prevent germ spread, and it holds A LOT of dirty diapers. This gift set was awesome to receive. Including the Amazon link here - under $100!
8. Baby Brezza Formula/Bottle Maker
If there is a chance you will be using formula for your baby and not breast-feeding, we've heard that this formula/bottle maker is going to change your life. You simply add the powder formula, fill with water, and hit a button. In seconds, your baby will have a warm bottle of formula ready to go! We received this and can't wait to use it! 9. The Hatch Changing Pad & Smart Scale
This Hatch changing table WEIGHS THE BABY! How cool! We are so excited to use it. Fits on top of almost any changing table or dresser! Here is a link on Amazon!
10. Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier
This baby carrier from Baby Bjorn is soft like butter and so comfortable to wear for both mom and baby (even dad!) It's adjustable to fit your baby as they grow up to 12 months and it feels so sturdy! Great for on-the-go and travel or even just carrying the baby around at home!
