If you're looking for a decadent and chocolatey brownie recipe that is vegan and gluten-free friendly, look no further! This 30-Minute Vegan Fudge Brownies Recipe has your name on it! They taste so much better than boxed brownies and are surprisingly easy! Give them a try, I bet they'll be The Best Vegan Fudge Brownies you've ever had!

Ingredients
- Butter: To make these delicious vegan brownies, melt vegan (or regular butter if you're not vegan or dairy-free). If you don't have vegan butter, feel free to use coconut oil. You will need to add a pinch of salt to your brownie batter if you use coconut oil because it is slightly sweeter than butter.
- Milk: To make these fudgey and gooey brownies, you can use any full-fat plant-based milk or cream. I personally like a full-fat creamy oat milk. Coconut milk or almond milk will work as well. If you are not vegan or dairy free, heavy cream is another option.
- Sugar: Use regular organic cane sugar or coconut sugar to sweeten the brownies.
- Vanilla Extract: Vanilla gives these vegan brownies a delicious flavor.
- Baking Powder: Baking powder helps our brownies rise without the need for eggs.
- Cocoa Powder: Cocoa powder is how we achieve that rich chocolatey look and taste in these vegan fudge brownies.
- Flour: Use regular all purpose flour in this brownie recipe. If you would like to make gluten-free brownies, use gluten-free all purpose flour.
- Chocolate Chips: Use regular or vegan chocolate chips to make these brownies extra chocolatey.
How To Make Vegan Fudge Brownies
This vegan brownie recipe is simple and straightforward, requiring only one bowl! Here are the steps to the best brownies:
Step 1: Simply mix your melted vegan butter, non-dairy milk, sugar, vanilla, baking powder, and cocoa together.
Step 2: Once the mixture is smooth, add the flour and mix until a thick brownie batter is formed. Once the brownie batter has formed, fold in the vegan chocolate chips.
Step 3: Transfer the batter into a greased baking dish (I prefer metal dishes as they cook more evenly). You may also line your baking dish with parchment paper.
Step 4: Bake in the oven until desired doneness and enjoy the best vegan brownies with a side of ice cold oat milk!
Can you make brownies without eggs?
Yes! You can absolutely make brownies without eggs. This vegan and gluten-free friendly brownie recipe is so simple. There are no eggs, dairy, or even egg substitutes such as flax eggs needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
My favorite brand of vegan chocolate chips are from Enjoy Life Foods. That being said, any non-dairy chocolate chips will work. Just read the label and make sure there is no milk in it. You can use sweet or semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Absolutely! Add a cup of chopped nuts to the vegan fudge brownie batter to give them an extra crunch.
I find that metal pans cook the brownies more evenly. That being said, if glass is all you have, totally ok!
Yes! I've made these with chopped gluten-free oreo cookies or chocolate chip cookies before and they're delicious. Make them your own by adding your favorite candy, nuts, or other treats to these amazing vegan brownies.

Suzanne Csipkes says
Hi Jillian. I went to make these and not sure how big your baking dish should be? Is it truly a 1 serving brownie?
Jillian Glenn says
Hi Suzanne, I use a 9x11 casserole dish 🙂
aci says
hi jillian, if i dont have vegan butter can i subtitute with the another one?
Jillian Glenn says
Any butter or oil will work 🙂
Christine says
I can’t compliment these brownies enough. I’ve been baking gluten free (celiac) for 10 years and never tasted brownies this good, even those made with dairy. These are exceptional and my non-celiac family loved them, too. Thank you, Jillian.
Jillian says
I am so happy to hear the brownies were a hit in your family! Thank you for trying my recipe!
Marcia Pacak says
Can you use LAKANTO sweetener in place of
sugar?
Jillian says
Hi there, yes I think so - but you might want to cut back on the measurement as monk fruit sweetener has a stronger sweet flavor than sugar.
Sayuri says
I don't understand this: "For best results, please don't substitute for almond flour, coconut flour, baking flour (such as Bob's Red 1-1 baking flour)", Can't use Bob's Red 1-1 baking flour????
Jillian says
Hi Sayuri, that is correct. As the recipe calls for regular or gluten-free all purpose flour. Bob's Red 1-1 Baking Flour would not work in this recipe. Hope this helps!!
Sinéad says
My go-to brownie recipe! I have made these so many times amd everyone loves them - way better than any non-vegan brownies I've ever made!
Thank you:)
Jillian says
Thank you so much! I am so happy you love these brownies as much as I do!
Julie says
Is it possible to use some other sweetener besides sugar? Trying not to use white sugar.
Jillian says
Hi Julie, I've used coconut sugar and monk fruit sweetener in these and both turn out great. Coconut sugar is a 1:1 swap while monk fruit sweetener might only need about half the amount.
ameliagaye says
Made these tonight as I've been craving brownies but wanted something healthier. Made them GF so my other half could have some, swapped the sugar for 1/3 cup agave syrup and 1/3 cup maple syrup and left out the chocolate chips because I didn't have any and they were still delicious with crispy edges and top! Not sure how long they'll last at this rate!
Jillian says
Love your tweaks to my recipe by adding agave and maple syrup! So happy you enjoyed my recipe 🙂
Wendy says
I needed a vegan brownie recipe, so of course I came here first. WOW!! These are sooooo good! I made them GF and I used Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder, so they turned out really dark and very chocolatey. This is my new go-to brownie recipe and I’m making them for a vegan barbecue (VBQ) this weekend! Also, they were unbelievably quick and they say to make. Thanks, Jillian!
Jillian says
Hi Wendy!! It's so sweet that you thought of my recipe!! Thank you for trying it 🙂 I am glad you enjoyed it!

WOW, these turned out SO much better than the last recipe I used. Added espresso powder and nuts. Turned out great!!

Hi Pat! Yay! I am so excited to hear that you enjoyed my brownie recipe!
