Mint Chocolate Smoothie

This creamy Mint Chocolate Smoothie is brought to you by my good friend, Helen Leland, founder of Blender Bombs and the amazing smoothie bar, Hustle! She recently taught me how to make this recipe and it tastes just like a mint chocolate milkshake except it's much healthier! You only need a handful of ingredients to pull off this delicious and nutritious plant-based shake.

This recipe uses one Blender Bomb to add flavor, fiber, healthy fats, and protein. I love using Blender Bombs in my smoothies because they are a convenient way to pack in super foods and turn a smoothie into a complete meal. To order Blender Bombs, be sure to use code PBJILLY at checkout.

Remaining Mint Chocolate Smoothie Ingredients

  • Milk: To keep this mint chocolate smoothie plant-based and dairy-free, use plain unsweetened almond milk or oat milk in this recipe. If you are not vegan or dairy-free feel free to use regular milk.
  • Spinach: We use fresh or frozen spinach in this mint chocolate smoothie to make it super nutritious (and give it that beautiful green color).
  • Frozen Banana: We use one frozen banana in this
  • Cacao: Use cacao powder (or cocoa powder) in this recipe to give it a rich chocolatey flavor.
  • One Blender Bomb: Blender bombs are little super food bombs that you can drop into your blender along with your other smoothie ingredients. They include things like almonds, dates, chia seed, hemp seed, etc. to provide healthy fats, fiber, and plant-based protein.
  • Mint Leaves or Mint Extract: Use a handful of fresh mint leaves or a few drops of mint extract or mint essential oils to this smoothie to give it a minty flavor.

No Blender Bomb?

Use the ingredients below to replace the blender bomb in this smoothie. Be sure to add these ingredients to the other ingredients (almond milk, cacao, mint, spinach, and banana) before blending. Remember: You don't need to use these ingredients if you already are using a blender bomb.

  • Avocado: Use ¼ of a ripe avocado to add healthy fats and creaminess to this smoothie.
  • Chocolate Protein: Use vegan chocolate powder to help balance blood sugar and keep you feeling more full. I love using the brand NUFYX because it's vegan, gluten-free, keto, certified organic, and tested for heavy metals. Use code PBJILLY at checkout.
  • Date: If you would like a sweeter smoothie, add ½ to 1 date to your smoothie. I recommend tasting the smoothie with the protein powder before adding the dates as some protein powdered are already sweetened.
