Easy Vegan Apple Cinnamon Rolls

No-Yeast Apple Cinnamon Rolls Ingredients

  • Dough:
    • ¾ cup unsweetened milk, regular or non-dairy
    • ½ cup melted butter, regular or non-dairy
    • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour (I like Cup4Cup flour if making these gluten-free)
    • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt (only if using gluten-free flour)
  • Apple Filling:
    • 1 large honey crisp apple, sliced
    • 6 tablespoon butter, divided, regular or non-dairy
    • 1 ½ tablespoon cinnamon, divided
    • ⅓ cup cane sugar, divided
  • Cream Cheese Frosting:
    • 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
    • 4 oz cream cheese, regular or non-dairy
    • 4 tablespoon butter, softened, regular or non-dairy

How To Make No-Yeast Apple Cinnamon Rolls

  1. Preheat & Prep: Set your oven to 350°F. Grease your favorite round baking dish.
  2. Apple Filling: On medium heat, melt 2 tablespoon butter in a saucepan. Add apples, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and ¼ cup sugar. Cook until apples are tender. Let it cool.
  3. Dough: In a bowl, mix milk, melted butter, and baking powder. Fold in flour to form a thick dough. If using gluten-free flour, incorporate the yogurt well.
  4. Assemble: Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Smear 4 tablespoon butter, then the apple mix. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon. Roll, cut into 8-9 pieces, and bake for 25-30 minutes. For extra golden tops, broil for 1-2 minutes. Cool briefly.
  5. Frosting: Whip together powdered sugar, cream cheese, and butter. Drizzle on rolls and serve warm!

This is a 30 minute, no-yeast and gluten-free version of my famous apple cinnamon rolls. This recipe is vegan, can be made gluten-free, and the result is the perfect batch of golden and buttery cinnamon rolls, loaded with gooey apple filling, that everyone in your home will love!

Ingredients
  

No-Yeast Gluten Free Apple Cinnamon Rolls

  • ¾ cup unsweetened milk regular or non-dairy
  • ½ cup melted butter regular or non-dairy
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups regular or gluten free all purpose flour If you're gluten-free, I like Cup4Cup gluten-free flour in this recipe
  • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt regular or non-dairy

Apple Cinnamon Rolls Filling

  • 1 large honey crisp apple, sliced
  • 6 tablespoon butter, divided regular or non-dairy
  • 1 ½ tablespoon cinnamon, divided
  • cup cane sugar, divided

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese regular or non-dairy
  • 4 tablespoon softened butter regular or non-dairy

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350
  • Grease a round baking dish with non-stick spray

Making The Apple Filling

  • Prepare the apple cinnamon filling by bringing a saucepan to medium heat on the stove. Add two tablespoon of the butter and melt. Once the butter has melted, add the apples, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and ¼ cup of the sugar. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 10 minutes - the apples should be tender. Remove from heat and set aside.

Making The Dough

  • Mix the milk, melted butter, and baking powder together. Then, add the regular or gluten free flour until a thick dough forms. Add the yogurt if you used gluten free flour and use your hands it work it evenly into the dough.
  • Place the dough onto a floured surface and use a rolling pin to roll it into a ? inch thick slab.

Assembling The Apple Cinnamon Rolls

  • Spread the remaining 4 tablespoon of softened butter over the dough. Then evenly distribute the apple filling on top of the dough. Sprinkle with the remaining 2 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
  • Use your hands to roll the slab of dough into a log. Cut the log into 8-9 pinwheels (about 2 inches thick) and place them into the round baking dish.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden. Option to broil for 1-2 minutes at the end to give them more color. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool for 2 minutes.

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • Use a hand whisk or electric hand mixer to mix the powdered sugar, cream cheese, and soft butter together to make the frosting. You may need to add 1 tablespoon of milk to thin out the frosting.
  • Allow the apple cinnamon rolls to cool for two minutes and drizzle them with the cream cheese frosting. Serve warm.
