Vegan Chocolate Donut Hole Ingredients

  • Plant-based Milk: I like to use unsweetened almond or oat milk!
  • Vegan Butter: Vegan butter adds moisture and necessary fat for these donut holes to come out tender and moist!
  • Sugar: You can use normal cane sugar or a purecane sugar substitute!
  • Baking Powder & Baking Soda: Both baking powder and baking soda are used to make these donuts super fluffy!
  • Vanilla Extract: For extra flavor.
  • Cocoa Powder: Use a high quality cocoa powder for rich, chocolatey flavor!
  • Flour: All-purpose flour will work well but you can also make gluten-free Halloween vegan chocolate donut holes by using a gluten-free replacement flour like King Arthur Measure for Measure!
  • Vegan Chocolate Chips: For extra chocolatey flavor, add in some vegan chocolate chips!
  • Vegan Chocolate Frosting: Simply whisk together some powdered sugar, cocoa powder, almond milk, melted vegan butter and vanilla extract for a homemade vegan chocolate frosting that is to die for!

How to Make Vegan Chocolate Donut Holes

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 F. Mix the almond or oat milk, melted vegan butter, cane sugar or purecane sugar substitute, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla and cocoa powder together until the mixture is smooth. Then, mix in the flour until a batter forms. Be careful not to over mix the batter or the chocolate donut holes will be dense. Option to fold in chocolate chips here!

Step 2: Spoon the batter into 60 greased silicone donut hole molds or 16 full sized greased silicone donut molds. Fill each mold about ⅔ to ¾ of the way full. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the donuts have risen and come easily out of the mold. Be careful not to over bake them.

Step 3: While the donuts are baking, mix the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, almond milk, vegan melted butter and vanilla together to make the vegan chocolate frosting. If the frosting is too thick, add another 1-2 tablespoon of almond milk to it.
